Taj Mahal & Fatehpur Sikri Tour : Itinerary

  • Travel to Agra & Sightseeing

    4:00 AM

Board your vehicle to reach Agra from your location in Delhi-NCR or Gurgaon.  You’ll want an early start to your Taj Mahal & Wildlife SOS tour, since the roads are less-congested in the morning.

    7 AM- 9 AM-

After a three-hour journey, land in Agra and visit the Taj Mahal. You can spend up to 2 hours exploring this beautiful monument and taking pictures for a lifetime. Don’t miss taking in the tomb and the four minarets along with the intricate marble work. You will also love the majestic gateways or arches that lead to the monument. If there is time, you can also head to the nearby Mehtab Bagh for a charming experience.

    9 AM-11 AM-

You can then visit the Agra Fort as a part of your Taj Mahal & Wildlife SOS tour, which is another imposing structure built around 1565 AD by Emperor Akbar. It was also the primary residence of the Mughal Emperor for several years. This complex is full of interesting palaces, courtyards, optical illusions, and other unique design elements that you will enjoy learning about on your trip. Don’t miss the Diwan-i-Aam and Diwan-i-Khaas along with the Jahangir Mahal, Khas Mahal, Chini Ka Rauza, and the Pearl Mosque or Moti Masjid here.

    11 AM-1 PM

Have lunch and then visit the tomb of Itmad-Ud-Daulah, often called the Baby Taj. Marvel at the regal structure that was ordered by Empress Nur Jahan in the memory of her father, Mirza Gheyas Beg. Explore the central chamber with the cenotaphs of Mirza Ghiyas Beg and his wife Asmat Begum, while checking out the inlay work and frescoes. Take a stroll through the Charbagh-inspired gardens with charming pathways and water channels while taking in the elegant Jali screens for the tomb that are set in arched recesses. The tomb has walls decorated with intricate tree, flower, fruit, animal, and bird carvings while there are four minarets at the four corners.

    1 PM-2.30 PM-

Journey to Wildlife SOS Agra, which is around 90 minutes away.

    2 PM-4.30 PM-

Spend at least a couple of hours at Wildlife SOS Agra, exploring the amazing Bear and Elephant zones here and learning about the medical aid and conservation efforts undertaken by the country. Wildlife SOS was founded by a group of individuals with a passion to conserve the country’s wildlife and natural heritage in 1905. It is famous for its work with dancing bears, along with projects for helping elephants, leopards, reptiles, and diverse other species.

You will love exploring the Agra Bear Rescue facility which has a new Education Conservation Walkway, the first of its kind in the country. Spend time with the bears and learn about all that the organization is doing to protect them. The rescue facility is within the Sur Sarovar Bird Sanctuary, Keetam, Agra. Watch the bears and elephants moving freely in the sanctuary and take part in the feeding session at 4 PM for a chance to get close to these fascinating animals. The Elephant Conservation and Care Center is also the country’s only chain-free rescue centre. Not only will you meet the elephants, but you will also learn about their habits, backgrounds, and fascinating anecdotes. In fact, walking with the elephants is one of the most popular activities to participate in here.

FAQ's

1. How much time is enough for Taj Mahal?

Two to three hours is plenty of time to see the Taj Mahal. Going early in the morning is your best bet for avoiding crowds, so keep that in mind. If you want to see the Taj Mahal and its surrounding attractions—including Agra Fort, Itmad-ud-daula (Mini Taj), Sikandra (Akber’s mausoleum), and Mehtab Bagh (from where you get a great view of the Taj Mahal in the evening)—you’ll need at least one full day.

The Taj Mahal, the Agra Fort, and Fatehpur Sikri are all recognised by UNESCO as World Heritage Sites.

  • Taj Mahal

The Taj Mahal is the most visited building in India and is often regarded as one of the world’s seven wonders. The Taj Mahal was a labour of love for Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan and his queen Mumtaz. The Taj Mahal is like an eardrop on the cheek of eternity, as Tagore put it. Agra’s historical monuments draw the most visitors to India every year.

  • Fort of Agra

The Agra Fort is a UNESCO World Heritage Site known as Lal Qila, Fort Rouge, and the Red Fort of Agra. The Taj Mahal is around 2.5 kilometres to the northwest. Emperor Akbar built Agra’s massive historical site out of red sandstone on the banks of the Yamuna.

  • Fatehpur Sikri

Mughal Emperor Akbar’s former capital, Fatehpur Sikri, is almost entirely red sandstone. It has recently been named a popular tourist destination and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The city is a beautiful illustration of Akbar’s skill as an architect.

The main attractions in Agra, like the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort, may be seen in same day agra tour by car. It is common for visitors to arrive from Delhi and Jaipur in the early afternoon. Consequently, on the day of arrival, they will visit Mehtab Bagh to take in the breathtaking vista of the Taj Mahal at dusk.

The airport is accessible via plane. Thus, that option is available. The cab will then take you directly to your accommodation.

In the winter, from November to February, the Taj Mahal will be obscured by fog and should be avoided at all costs. If you want to see the monument at its best, go in the early summer, between March and June. In addition, Monday through Thursday are the top days to visit.

The Taj Mahal is accessible daily from sunrise to sunset (except on Fridays). However, the best time to visit is early morning.

Indian citizens pay INR 50, non-resident Indians (NRIs) pay INR 1100, and visitors from SAARC and BIMSTEC countries pay INR 535 to enter the Taj Mahal. A visit to the mausoleum inside the Taj Mahal will save you an extra 200 Indian Rupees.

The Taj Mahal is best seen in the morning, as recommended. You can avoid the midday sun and its oppressive heat without sacrificing pleasant illumination and a diminished chance of encountering other people (that starts around 9 a.m.). Get there early for the ticket counter.

Each Taj Mahal’s entrance features a ticket booth and a cloakroom and book same day taj mahal tour by car.

The Taj Mahal, the Agra Fort, Fatehpur Sikri, and many other historical and architectural marvels are all within easy travel distance. For lunch, you may also have some delicious Mughal food.
